mango summer lookbook 2012

sigh. i want everything. especially the first outfit and the nerve to wear all white. does this scare anyone else? i'm happy to wear all black-not in a goth way but when it comes to all white eeek! maybe i'm not cool/angelic enough to get away with it. plus i'm pretty pale at times! but enough about my complexion! hope you found them as lovely as i do!

my friends are having babies i'm collecting shoes..

friday started out as a boring day, it was raining, i had the day off work without any plans so i decided to walk into town where i laid my eyes on these beauties and well it was love at first sight. AND they were only £25!!! obviously they aren't real underground creepers and well i don't actually think i care! for a third of the price i am not complaining. they are the new addition to my shoe family and they fit right in! i haven't worn them out yet! i feel these are shoes you need to 'dress' and not just sling on to go to the local shop? so i'm a little scared but i will on monday to work and will whip them out and show them off just like a new born. that's weird isn't it?

nail varnish of the day..

so the other day i just knew i had to have some new make-up in my life! i am actually after an elusive turquoise colour (i have seen it somewhere but i hope i'm not dreaming it) but as i'm yet to find it i spotted this little beauty instead and because it was 2 for £3 in superdrug, i couldn't resist and bought some mascara too! i haven't really used the mascara yet to see if i like i but i never really use expensive mascara and the brush looks good so fingers crossed! but anyway here is a picture of the nail varnish, i'm not too sure how close to the colour the photograph actually is (i think it looks more purple in the flesh) i used three coats but as it dries super quick i didn't mind! i bought a mega glittery one when i was in the states last year for a dollar and unfortunately it ran out so i may have to buy some more but i really like their nail varnishes and they are great value for money too! the website shows all the products they sell and made me want every shade!

anyone else a fan of their make-up? is the foundation/lipstick any good? please let me know if i'm missing out!!

i am now a twitterer..

i don't know if that's the correct name of someone who tweets and to be honest it's not completely me just yet! how on earth do you use it and get people to follow you who don't have a link to a website with the words big boobs and c*m shot in the title? gross! i spam them everytime! i have a feeling it's a lot like facebook where you get to write stuff but get to include people in them? ha i have no idea but i am following people like fearne cotton, alexa chung, some of my favourite bloggers oh and joey essex! haha! if someone could lead me in the write direction and stop me feeling like a 90 year old with a new mobile phone then that would be amazing! here is the link to my twitter page..

i had the intention of really getting ino my outfit posts and looking for things i like and just basically being a better blogger but alas i've had some random flu thing so i look a little like death warmed up! i am feeling better today though so hoping to be posting more in the next few days!

hope you're all well and having a nice day!

outfit of the day..

outfit of the day
playsuit: bay trading (before they went into administration)
belt: primark
lipstick: barry m number 62

i wore this to work today and only wore some cross earrings that didn't really go come to think of it, but my hair was pretty big and curly and my lipstick was soo bright i thought there wasn't a great need for any jewellery although i did feel a little naked. i love this playsuit, it's about 2 years old now and i don't wear it very often but as the weather warms up and neon colours continue to be in fashion i will no doubt be whipping it out as well as my pale legs! huzzah!

hope you've had a lovely day enjoying the sunshine!!

things i liked this week..

  1.

     2.

        3.

         4.

           5.

so i figured this week instead of looking at other peoples blogs and being jealous of how much they add to it and how frequently i thought why not just do it! i've made myself a kind of timetable of regualr things to add to it and on sunday i thought i would give a run down of what i've been looking at and doing.. hopefully people will find it interesting! so here goes the first of my "what i liked this week"

1. jasper james: people and places series photography! such a simple but effective idea! gorgeous photos!

2. illustration by robert maple gave me inspiration to 'have a go' myself at illustrating my favourite camera-my purple holga! it's no way as cute as his and i wasn't trying to copy at all but it's been a while since i used illustrator and photoshop so i thought i'd have a cheeky go! and it was soo quick and easy and made me really want to keep on illustrating but using drawings! probably about time i stopped talking about it and did it, huh?

3. jellyfishing, jellyfishing, jellyfishing! said in the voice of spongebob squarepants obviously! found these amazing images and fell in love with the colours! jellyfishes freak me out a little bit though so i am grateful for other people being that brave to go under the sea to take them for my enjoyment!

4. i am officially now a craftgawker!! a new addiction! kind of like pinterest with lots of pictures and ideas for a variety of d.i.y projects! you should definitely check it out!

5. making my own jewellery! i have been playing around with making things like pin cushions and phone cases but came up with some good ideas for jewellery and i'm pretty happy with the final outcome! i had the lime green coloured felt and thought mixed with the pink and purple it would look nice and fit well into spring/summer season! the lime is just a hint of neon and the pink and purple are just the right shade! i wore it with a shirt, not the denim one in the picture but it fits great just under the collar and think it makes a real statement! going to start making more when i can afford some supplies and hopefully they'll go down well!

so i hoped you liked some of things i did this week and i will be back next week to do the same! hope you've all had a lovely weekend and been enjoying the sunshine!

holographic shoe love..

i discovered an amazing new blog called love aesthetics and not only did i fall in love with the very stylish owner and all the awesome d.i.y ideas but one of her latest posts was about the chalayan fall '12 catwalk show and it gave me instant shoe envy!! how, where, when, how much and now now now! i have zero pounds to my name but if anyone knows any holographic paint i can buy to cover my entire shoe collection with i would be enternally grateful..

february=folksy shop

this is the hand-made sewing kit that i made for my friends birthday. to finish it off i painted the jar lid pink and glittery and added a tape measure ribbon in a bow and filled it with other useful bits other than the pincushion and needle book and she really liked it :)

so since then i've came up with the idea to make some other pin cushions and needle books and try sell them in my very own folksy shop (exciting!) i like to keep busy and if i can get crafty and manage to make some pocket money on the side then i will be happy!

i will link up my folksy shop when i can work out how to list my stuff! for now i will show you the first item i'm going to sell and hope you like it.

it's a russian doll and she has lovely rosey cheeks, flower detail and is so cute i don't really want to give her away. i feel i should name her but don't know what!

hand-made flower needle book...

as mentioned in the previous post i made a needle book or tidy for my friend's birthday sewing kit gift and wanted to show a step-by-step guide. i tend to make things and don't put them on my blog but thought i would and as i've found most of my inspiration on pintrest i thought i'd put it on there too :) so here goes. this is the finished product..

i found the pattern from this lovely blog (the link takes you straight to the tutorial). i thought it was the easiest and prettiest one i could find (her birthday is on tuesday). so thought i would give it a whirl.

as i didn't have any ink in my printer i couldn't print off the free pattern so i just drew them my own with white paper and continued to cut out the shapes in purple and green, i wanted pink and light green like in the picture but as i wondered around the empty high street on a sunday i settled for a £1 fely pack so i comprimised on the colours but think they work really well together

so after i cut out the pieces i just placed them together to see what they would look like and this is the result. now in the tutorial there is a cute yellow centre for the flower but as i used one in my daisy pincushion and i had these fake flowers laying around i thought i'd put them to good use and sew them to the front of the book and make it a little more pretty..

i just sewed lots of petals onto the front and held them in place with some prety aqua colour beads as i thought it went really well with the pinky purple colour, i sewed them close together so they would almost bunch up and make a 3D bouquet kind of shape! i simply then sewed the purple and green pieces together at the fold and ta-da! the last two images are the finished project, closed and opened! i still want to add some sewing needles, maybe onto the safety pin page but there you go, it was super easy to make and i'll let you know the outcome when i give it to my friend!

hope you liked it too :)

daisy pincushion...

today i started putting together a sewing kit for my very best friend's birthday for tuesday! she's been sewing a lot recently and whilst i was planning to get her some really pretty scissors i was on pintrest and came across some lovely sewing kits in jars so i thought i'd put together one for her and customise it with a hand-made pin cushion and needle tidy/book. i've also bought some other bits and bobs like thread, an unpicker and thrown in some spare buttons and its starting to fill up and look really pretty! i will upload some pictures when i've completely finished it but for now thought i'd start with the daisy pincushion and will blog about the needle book with instructions and more pictures next!

this was possibly this easiest thing to make, i just made a flower stencil, cut out two white flower shapes, one small yellow circle, sewed it onto the first piece then using blanket stitching went round the whole thing stuffing with cotton wool as i went. its not as full as other pincushion but think it definitely does the job.

i hope you like it!!

pre-collection illustrations...

yep so these are a few images from my pre-collection, i guess i rabble on about doing menswear but then don't back myself up, i was inspired to put up some illustrations after seeing a striped shirt come into store today that took me back to this collection sooo i thought why not...

the inspiration from the collection started with images of circus freaks, it later progressed and i took just one element of my original concept idea. for me, lionel the lion man was that one element. i played around with replacing the stripes in my fabric with coloured fur, using stripes in different thicknesses, directions and colours.

i'm hoping to add some more images soon as well as up and coming work, as my hours have dropped a little it will give me time to do some illustration work and be a lot more creative..

happy accident phone photos...

i don't know if anyone does this, but i am forever pressing the camera button and taking photographs without even realising. maybe they could be a new art fad, i love the coloured stripe one and love the fact i have no idea what it is!?

hope you like them as much as i do and does anyone else have any happy accident beauties on their phones?
